A Simple Somatic Practice to Reconnect with your inner child and FEEL SAFE in your body

There are days you feel lost.
Unloved.
Out of sync with yourself.

On those days, I invite you to pause and ask:
“Have I felt this before?”

If the answer is yes, and the feeling is familiar,
it’s likely your inner child is speaking.

That ache you feel isn’t random.
It’s an old emotion rising to the surface—
asking to be acknowledged.
Asking to be met with love.

Why We Disconnect

Many of us grew up learning to hide parts of ourselves.
To suppress feelings.
To keep going, no matter what.

That’s how disconnection starts.
We stop trusting our own emotions.
We stop feeling safe in our bodies.
And slowly, we drift away from our authentic self.

But there’s a way back.
And it doesn’t require years of searching.
It starts with a few quiet moments and your breath.

A Simple Somatic Practice to Reconnect

I use this with my clients often.
It’s gentle.
It’s powerful.
And it only takes a few minutes.

Here’s how you do it:

  • Sit comfortably on a chair or couch.
    Feet flat on the ground.

  • Notice your sitting bones connecting to the seat.

  • Place your hands on your lap.

  • Take a gentle breath in... and out.

Now, think of one of two things:
A person who makes you feel loved and safe,
or a place where you feel whole, present, and at peace.

If you chose a person:
Visualize them sitting across from you.
See their eyes meet yours with warmth and acceptance.
Feel their presence soften your heart.

If you chose a place:
Let yourself fully arrive there.
Maybe it’s the beach. A forest. A mountain.
Notice the sounds, the smells, the feeling of being held by that space.

Breathe in the love.
Breathe out anything heavy.

Let go of resistance, sadness, fear—
let it leave your body like dark smoke.

When you're ready, slowly return to your space.
Open your eyes.
Notice what’s shifted.

This Is How I Come Home

Every time I do this practice, I return to the Himalayas.
That place holds a deep connection for me.
It brings me back to my centre.
I’ll be running a marathon there soon—
and every breath I take is helping me prepare, inside and out.

You have that place too.
That feeling.
That anchor.

And each time you feel lost, you can come back to it.

This is the power of your nervous system.
This is the beauty of your inner child feeling safe again.
This is what authentic living feels like.

So I’ll ask you:
